We love beer, we thank heaven. Begrudgingly, we admit we are not the authority on all things "beer," but we know our fair share. Enjoy the good brew with us; correct us where we're wrong.

Don, I don't think you're an idiot for liking the Mad Elf! I hope Jim sent you more than one bottle though! I thought it was pretty good too, something different when I tried it last year. Good write up Nate.

Nate:

I had my first Mad Elf a couple nights ago. Jim sent it to me. He bought a case he was so impressed with it. I think it set him back about $53. First, I'm an idiot. But of course you all know that. I drank this with the beginnings of a head cold. But, I was in denial about it, and thought no big deal. I couldn't really smell too much, but some of the cherry and honey got through. On the flavor I could taste the cherry and honey, and the alcohol actually had a slight burn on the back side. It surprised me a lot, but I liked it. I wish I had another to try later once this cold subsides. I'm pretty sure I would like it a lot. OK now, take your jabs...I really am an idiot!

I enjoyed the Mad Elf for the first time in November, pretty solid. We were tasting many beers so I don't know how true a taste I was getting. Your review makes me want to try it again, unfortunately we don't get them in Minny. I have to agree, the Nugget Nectar is one of my favorites. I will usually trade for it when it comes out, was glad to get some from their limited GABF release this past autumn. Cheers all! DA

@jason I have had Nugget Nector and it wasn't bad at all. It's funny, usually I find most fruit beers overwhelming, this one seemed subdues to me.
I'll look for their scratch if I ever make it over there. I haven't had Flying Mouflan, but will keep my eyes open. Thanks for the comment!!!

I feel this beer has too much of the cherry. I think it is overpowering, Their scratch is mostly only sold in their brewery store. You should look into their Nugget Nectar that comes out in January. That is by far my favorite beer that they make, and many people in this area go nuts over it. Also, they sometimes have other one time brews. Their Flying Mouflan was a very good beer,
