We love beer, we thank heaven. Begrudgingly, we admit we are not the authority on all things "beer," but we know our fair share. Enjoy the good brew with us; correct us where we're wrong.

There is no comparison. I've always thought that Samuel Smith's had a slightly Soy Sauce quality to it, which is its only imperfection. Otherwise, it is an astounding beer. Schlafly doesn't even hold a matchstick, let alone a candle to Samuel Smith's. Having said that, I've had one or two Oatmeal Stouts that I've liked more than Samuel Smith. You're right, it is the standard.

How would you compare it to Smith's? More or less the standard in Oatmeal Stouts, in California anyhow.
