No matter where in the world I have found myself, whether it be the cities in which I’ve lived or the countries to which I have traveled, I always seem to stumble upon large pockets of individuals with a festering loathing for their locale of residence.  Even now I wincingly recall a young man, whom I surfed with in Hawaii’s roborant waves, saying, “I can’t wait to get off of this island.”  I’ll trade ya, dude!  I suppose the old proverb is true…the grass is always greener on the other side.

So I want to take a moment to give all of our readers out there who  live in somewhat close proximity to Toledo, OH,  an opportunity to feel a little local pride, as they see that a little bit of culture can exist inside of the rust belt.  I’m inviting you to join my stunningly beautiful, beer loving wife and I to the third annual beer fest here in Toledo, OH.  Over a hundred microbreweries will be represented, including Great Lakes Brewing Company, Dogfish Head, and Hoppin’ Frog.  The event is on March 6th, 2009 from 5-1.

I think this would be a great opportunity to meet some of the folk whom I’ve gotten to know through this site, and many of those who read but are a bit comment-shy.  So send me an email, or give me a call (419.205.5337).  Tickets can be purchased at The  Anderons, or you can go to the Glass City Beer Fest’s website.

In the words of the great punk poets (not so much) Harvey Danger,  “If you’re bored then you’re boring;” that is to say, I want to see you there or you’ve no one to blame for your residential apathy!  If you do decide to go, to save yourself from being “that guy” here are few humorous pointers.

Cheers!
