In a life that is ever increasingly moving towards beer, I just landed a new job. As some of you know, Nate and I (Mike) plan on opening a brewery someday. We would like that someday to be about 5 years from the present. Both of us are homebrewers. But both of us would like to have some professional/commercial experience before we attempt to launch this thing. It’s always nice to be able to have valuable experience prior to jumping into any business for yourself.
I would like to announce that I have landed a job at a brewery about 16 miles away from home. What am I going to be doing? Well, I’m going to be helping distribute the products that we make. I’m also going to be helping in the brewhouse, which means with all aspects of the brewing process. It’s a foot in the door, and I can’t wait to help with some brews. Just thought I would update our readers on my exciting new development.
Awesome. My plans are a little further out.

Congrats on the awesome sounding new job Mike!

That is awesome news. So I take it you won’t be coming back to Crown any time soon. Lame. But that’s awesome to hear.
Congrats and I hope that the brewery sees what an asset you are. Good luck with your future brewery plans.

Congrats from me too Mike!
@ BigTex, how far out?

@ Nate: Step one is to pay off the college loans. Both me and the Mrs. have some significant sums of $$ to pay back in that regard. Making good progress, but still a ways to go. Therefore, the engineering job is going to pay my bills for a little while longer. Step two is to get back to Texas prior to beginning a brewery. I figure that I can do that almost wherever I want, so why not go where I have family. The housing market needs to recover prior to that happening.
So, to answer the question, I’m thinking more like 10 or so years.

Thanks on the congrats from everyone. I hope that others are able to achieve their goals, too. I don’t think I’ll be going back to Crown or Lowe’s of Avon very soon, Ben. Nice to hear from you.
