In an effort to expand our participation on Saturdays, we’ve changed our procedure a bit. We were picking beers and asking people to buy them. I’m sure that we are going to keep doing this sometimes, but we are currently trying to come up with some more ways for people to become involved. It really is hard to get everyone on the same page and to get a particular beer without going on a national scale. Well, this Saturday is going to be another departure from the norm.
Where do you live? Wouldn’t it be cool if we could post a beer review from every state? That’s what I started thinking. So, if your state has a cool beer or just one that you’ve been waiting to try, Sip it on Saturday and send us a review. We want to know what’s good. Any takers?
For my part, I’ve got plenty to choose from in California. I actually have a beer or two from Indiana that I could review as well. Please join us…even Dark Lord Dog is participating.

That’s a great idea – sometimes people forget to check out their own local beer scene because there’s so much other stuff to focus on. New Jersey gets a bad rap for a lot of things, but we actually have a fairly vibrant craft-beer scene. I make it a point to buy Jersey-made beers from time to time and have found some real winners in the process! Everybody should try and support their local small breweries.

I drank a home state brew last night but will have some more Cigar City this Saturday just for this purpose.

I have a brew from Teton Brewing that is made in Victor, Idaho. It is perhaps one of the most scenic breweries in the world! Sits right at the base of the Grand Teton Mountain range, and they have brewed some pretty good stuff. I have one of their cauldron Stouts. Should be good.

I’ll clunk around in the garage this weekend (actually, I’ll be cleaning the damn thing) and see if I have any Jersey stuff. Great idea guys!

I had every intention of playing along this time around, but it’s just not in the cards. Between sinuses and my garlic loaded dinner, I can’t review my new beer with any kind of justice. It was Sun King’s Dominator Dopplebock. Looked very pretty, just like all of their beers do, and smelled of figs and rich toffee. Taste mostly followed along, with a rich malty flavor that was quite enjoyable. Let it warm up and enjoy!
