Here I am earning a pint of Bourbon Aged Angel’s Share at The Lost Abbey. Andrea (my lovely wife) helped. There will be a post coming on the whole adventure. I just wanted to share a bit.
When I “Bought my 12 oz Angel’s share, two things struck me first, it was aged in Brandy barrels, I thought like you it was Bourbon barrels, and second it ste me back $16! So how long did you need to work off your pint?
I get the impression that I didn’t need to work very long but my work ethic wouldn’t allow it. I worked about an hour and folded about 200 boxes out of the 1025 that they got. They posted a pic and said that those who helped had some beer on the way. I hope that includes me but if it doesn’t…I’m totally fine with it. The experience was great and I felt like I was working in the a brewery. It makes me want to open one so bad I can’t stand it.
I loved it, too. It’s exactly how I want to be as a brewer. I had fun just chilling and making boxes. Also, I’d like to note that if you want to come and stay for a few days, you have a place to stay at my crib. I would still love a bottle of Grand Cru. They were out of it, so I was out of luck.
I’d love the chance trade my time working in a brewery for a taste of the product. Just being in the mix would be cool. These guys are smart to barter with beer fans. Do they need anyone to sweep up?
Your help was seriously appreciated. Half those boxes are already filled with Angel’s Bourbon and he other half are getting Amorosa in the next week. Come back on April 3 for the release and I’ll make sure you get what all that taping was for fresh from the taps.
I’m going to try to make it down. I hope that I’m not scheduled to work. We’ll see. However, my real motive for doing it was really just to feel like I was working at your brewery. I love taping boxes. I love mashing in. I’ve worked out of a brewery at one point but they had q.c. issues that caused them not to be able to employ people. If you read our site much, you’ll know that Nate and I intend to open a brewery at some point. I just love being involved in the whole process. Thanks for letting me know that I can get that stuff from the tap…I’ll do everything in my power to make it down.

Was unable to make it down for the release, too bad. I hope there’s some left later on. Between moving and other activities it was just too busy. A tap Framboise sounds great, too…

Thats awesome. I loved that brewery when I stopped by. I want to go back to San Diego so bad. Do you still need that bottle of Grand Cru?

P.S. It was the bourbon one that I drank at the brewery. They do both, so keep a look out for it.

Bourbon is better than the Brandy in my opinion. I need to try last years though.
