It has become a serious platitude, at the point, to recount the recent problems created by President Obama due to his remorse-causing remark about the police acting “stupidly” in the arrest of Henry Gates. Later, the president retracted his initial stance by essentially stating that he hadn’t weighed his words too wisely. Speaking extemporaneously, as a president, is rarely a good idea. Whether or not the media, the police department, or even the president is being to hard on himself is for people to decide for themselves. At the very least, speaking on something that he admittedly knew little about, the president was not prudent.
Be that as it may, Mr. President made up for his mistake by apologizing and admitting to the wrong which he caused and apologizing (this is more rare than most collector’s items). But the best thing that he did was countenance the suggestion made by Officer James Crowley’s suggestion that the three of them have a beer together to clear the air. If the real fabric of the constitution was pounded out over pints by the forefathers, then why not grievances? I remain optimistic that the White House will set up the meeting and that comraderie and understanding will happen over a cold one. Beer…the great equalizer. I only wish the President would drink a beer with yours truly. Can anyone help me with that?

Ok! Who wouldn’t love to drink a beer with the President?

Sign me up!
As I read my online newspaper and saw that the president had indeed offered his residence and some beer for reconciliation, I was pleased. Besides a show of humility, a necessity for any politician these days, it reminded me of the power of beer to draw people together and develop kinship!

Call me a skeptic, but I don’t see anything really coming out of this meeting besides a nice photo-op.
Anyone know what beer is going to be served?

You may or may not be right. I think I’d still do it to say that I drank a beer with the pres…It’d be a cool story. I don’t know what they are doing to drink. To be honest, I’m a skeptic, too.

Register me as a skeptic as well. But, I’d sign up for the photo-op anyway, no matter what I felt about his policy positions. Who knows… a friendly discussion could ensue. As far as the beer goes, I believe the President should solicit both guests beer of choice and have it available, on draught. The event could turn into a presidential mini beer tasting.

I might be out of line here, but Arrogant Bastard would be an apropos selection, but I’m not saying for which of the three people.

@ big tex: hahahaha. Ambiguous enough to remain in line.

You are out of line…and funny when you do it. I’m more of a Double Bastard.

I couldn’t resist. It just came to mind, and I had to do it. I guess there’s enough arrogance to go around on this one.
[Reply]
I’d say you’re right! I always have an excess.

We probably don’t say it enough, but thanks for being a regular on the site, Scott and Big Tex.
