In light of my favorite celebration of the year, we will be indulging in a most fitting libation this Saturday, Hebrew Messiah Bold. Yes I know we may be acting a bit insensitive here. We know that there are plenty of folks out there that either don’t appreciate this holiday perhaps as much as we do, are of a completely different faith tradition, or like are eastern Orthodox friends, are waiting a few weeks to celebrate.
Regardless, none of these reasons should stop you from drinking this beer. In fact, while I am not sure, after perusing the Smaltz website, I am hardly convinced the creators of this beer accept Christ as Messiah…so perhaps I have chosen this weeks beer poorly.
Hebrew’s Messiah Bold is characterized as a balanced nut brown ale, utilizing a array of malts (2-row, Carapils, Dark Crystal/ Caramel 80L, Dark Chocolate, Victory) and a triad of hops (Warrior, Cascade, Mt. Hood). The beer is brewed to strict kosher standards set forth by the Kosher Supervision of America. If you have trouble finding the Mesiah Bold, I suggest you go for whichever Hebrew Variety you can get your hands on, and post your review in the comments setion of the review post.
L’chaim!

Liz reviewed their Cony Island Lager and really liked it. She went out of her way to find a bottle of Sword Swallower – to be reviewed soon (I hope) She’s more into the drinking than the blogging!

It’s hard to keep up on the blogging. We post (most of the time) at least once a day, but I have about 20 beer reviews waiting in the wings (sitting in my notebook). It’s hard to keep up, that’s what the weekends are for.

I have had the Genesis Ale and didn’t really care for it. Then Zak from Shmaltz recommended that I try Lenny’s Bittersweet RIPA and that was amazing. Great double IPA with a rye taste to it.

Ha, I think we all are more into drinking than blogging…but they do go hand in hand!
Mike, I haven’t had the RIPA, but have read up on it. I enjoy the rye flavor in an IPA…just curious…where do you live?

I live in south Florida Nate. Specifically Boynton Beach.

That’s right…I remember now from the brief discussion about that Dogfish Head IPA sampler. I am most likely going to be in that area in October. We’ll have to grab a brew together!

Definitely! There is a few really good beer bars around here.

Hey guys. This is Zak from Shmaltz. Hey Mike, really glad you enjoyed the RIPA. I wouldn’t lead you astray. A nice, fresh bottle of Messiah Bold is one of my favorite session beers to enjoy. Nate, I hope you liked it. I appreciate the love. Happy Easter and Happy Passover. L’Chaim!!

Nate,
I reviewed a Red Rye P.A from Founders that I’m posting soon. I’ve said repeatedly that I really love Bell’s Rye Stout. I don’t even know if they make it anymore.
